Fees
What buying and selling on TROTTERA costs, with worked examples. All fees are ex VAT; the examples add Dutch VAT.
In short
- Listing fee: € 75 per horse, always due. Deducted from the payout when the horse is sold; invoiced when it is bought back, receives no bid or is withdrawn. Nothing is charged at registration.
- Buyer fee: 2.25% of the hammer price.
- Seller fee: 2.25% of the hammer price.
- Transaction costs: € 10 per purchase, paid by the buyer.
- Buyback: 1% of the highest bid plus the listing fee, when the seller wins their own horse.
- No bid: 1% of the opening bid (€ 1,000) plus the listing fee.
- VAT: on TROTTERA's fees and costs only, never on the hammer price. 21% in the Netherlands; see below for other countries.
What the buyer pays
One payment to TROTTERA within 5 days after the closing: the hammer price plus TROTTERA's invoice. The bid confirmation shows this total before you bid.

The hammer price goes to the seller through TROTTERA; only the fee, the costs and the VAT are TROTTERA's invoice.
What the seller receives
Paid out 7 days after the buyer's payment (or after the 14-day withdrawal period when a consumer buys from a professional): the hammer price minus TROTTERA's settlement invoice.

A professional seller elsewhere in the EU with a valid VAT number pays no Dutch VAT (reverse charged); a seller outside the EU pays no VAT.
When the horse is not sold
Bought back by the seller, no bid, withdrawn, or the buyer did not pay: what is invoiced then, with a hammer price of € 1,000 to € 3,000 as the example.

The seller of a horse that was bought back, got no bid or was withdrawn cannot register a new horse until this invoice is paid. When the buyer does not pay, the seller owes nothing, may register the horse again without a listing fee, and receives the compensation when it is recovered.
VAT by country
Customers in the Netherlands pay 21% VAT on TROTTERA's fees and costs. A business elsewhere in the EU with a VAT number that TROTTERA has checked pays no VAT (reverse charged). A consumer elsewhere in the EU pays the VAT rate of the country where the horse stands. Outside the EU no VAT is charged. The bid confirmation and every invoice apply these rules to your own situation.
